| August Area Interest Meetings Train the Trainer Courses Presented at August Area Interest Meetings Building on the success of a number of highly attended side-by-side burn demonstrations in South Florida, we have developed a program for sprinkler contractors and fire educators in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of fire sprinklers. The purpose of the “Train-the-Trainer” program is to show step by step the life saving capabilities of home fire sprinkler systems by comparing two rooms, one protected and one unprotected in order to educate and build consumer demand for home fire sprinklers in various communities. We have developed a 1.5 hour trainer program that gives you the proper tools to construct and conduct a side by side live burn. Please RSVP to bush@nfsa.org All meetings start at 12:00 noon. | IRC NEWS There is a LOT of work going on in many states on both the "IRC" issue and issues related to "ITM". Just as a reminder, there are links (left side of home page) of the NFSA website at: www.nfsa.org for both national IRC and ITM updates. It is a good place to view current status of those items. The link will take you to a map..simply click on the state to read the update. Also,m the page will list the Regional Manager and Area Director for that state. If you have specific questions about their states, all of their contact information is listed. Not only are we working hard in Florida...that same activity is taking place in 49 other states - makes it clear why we are the "Voice of the Fire Sprinkler Industry". |
| ICC Committee Action Keeps Fire Sprinklers in Homes Reaffirming action taken last year by its membership to include fire sprinklers in the construction of new one- and two- family homes, last night the International Code Council rejected a National Association of Home Builders proposal to remove residential fire sprinkler requirements from the 2012 edition of the International Residential Code. To achieve success, NFSA joined forces with the International Residential Code Fire Sprinkler Coalition – a large alliance of fire service professional organizations, including fire chiefs and fire marshals, fire code associations, and citizen advocacy groups.
